Adrian studied for his BSc and subsequent PhD at
Southampton University, UK. His academic research covered studies on
Phospholipases A2 and development of associated fluorescent assays.
After holding post-doctoral positions at The Institute of Cancer Research,
London, UK and Southampton University he moved into industry with Zeneca
Agrochemicals (now part of Syngenta) where he built up a knowledge base of many
high throughput assay platforms. Moving to Chiroscience, Cambridge, UK (now
part of Celltech) to establish and head up the High Throughput Screening team
gave him first hand experience of fully integrated automated screening
platforms. In March 2001 Adrian became Head of Screening at Cambridge Drug
Discovery (now part of BioFocus). This role has allowed him to develop a broad
experience of the drug discovery process working with many leading
pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
