Jonathan Cechetto

Jonathan earned both his undergraduate and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry at McMaster University, in Hamilton, Canada. During his Ph.D. thesis he worked on characterization of the subcellular location of a number of classes of proteins, particularly chaperonins. In 2001, he joined a team starting up the McMaster HTS Lab, currently the only academic HTS lab in Canada. There, he has facilitated in the lab setup and was primarily responsible for implementation of its informatics infrastructure. Since 2002, Jonathan has been the Manager of the McMaster HTS Lab and is responsible for financial oversight, managing screening campaigns, and all IT-related tasks. In a little over a year of screening, the lab has run 8 screens and generated over 9 million data points. Currently, the lab is the driving force behind an innovative data mining and docking competition. For this, a high quality HTS data set is utilized as a basis for competitors to predict activity on a second set of compounds for which the in vitro activity is already known.
